What's Ahead For Me And The Military Resource Directory In 2013
January 4, 2013
Happy New Years Everyone! I am so excited about the new year ahead, I have many changes coming up and a few new projects too. 2012 was really really tough for me personally and I know it affected my "work". I was pretty scattered all about when my younger brother "Jimmy" lost his life to cancer last October, he was my Bestest friend. But I am back, and I am okay,.. and I'm fired up LOL So with my time off,..(when I wasn't trying to fix my head or my heart) I had the oppertunity to put some thought into the military network I've built on-line for the past 5 years. And Wow,..I had no idea going into this 5 years ago that I would meet thousands of wonderful people with like minded goals and intentions, honestly it can be over whelming but in the best way! I tried very hard to keep up with everybody over the years but my index system didn't work very well, but you learn as you go. Over the past few weeks I began filling a new index sysem, and I'm geeked because it has been working out really good. I am going to be spending the next few weeks working on updating my new system, and get everybody's information updated as quick as I can. If you'd like to share somthing email me at Army_Infantry_Mom@yahoo.com
After I get everybody updated in the directory and thats good to go there's 3 main things I really want to focus on. First being Generations Of Warriors Project (GOWP) http://www.gowarriorsproject.org/ Founded by Spencer Oland (my boss/partner) LOL Spencer was a Sgt in the USMC (1966-70) and served 12 months in Vietnam from 1968-69. He really is amazing,.. His life experiences, his gift of speaking, teaching, and a true warrior heart has him out on the front lines here at home helping those who are returning from war, raising awareness about (PTSD) Post Traumatic Disorder and (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injuries. The website has pages of good information, resources, and links, but what makes it stand out is the personal stories told by those who served. So much can be learned through them, they give so much inight and their stories should just be heard. Buts lots of new great stuff taken place over there this year!
#2 on my liist is my website Gulf War Syndrome - Finding Anwers http://www.gwi--findinganswers-persiangulfwarsyndrome.com/ I have taken an intrest in the subject and I just think more needs to be done for those who are suffering from it or at least a place where one can go to get inforation and resources of some kind. I would like to build this site up like I did on the Military Resource Directory. So please anybody out there with any information, rsources or a story to share email me.
nd my #3 is very new in the making,.. I won't go int to much right now but it does involve shelter/rescue dogs, and projects for veterans needing a Service K-9's. My brother "Jimmy" has a Facebook Fanpage that I helped him start about a year before he died, Blankets of Love K-9 Cross Roads. He had 2 missions, one to get as many dogs rescued as possiable that was in the kill shelters by finding them either foster parents or a perniment home and his 2nd mission was to cordinate needed animal supplies and get them where they were needed very badly. He was good at what he did because he loved doing it so much. During our last conversation he asked me to promise him that I would keep it going,.. and I am.
I know the goals he set out to accomplish, I am just going to finish them for him,.. take with me what he has built and mix in my military k-9 resources and make something new. Jimmy had a great appreciation for those who has served and he had a special place in his heart for our four legged Heroes.
In closing I just want to say "Thank You" to all those who stood behind me and with me throughout last year,.. 2013 is going to Rock and I'm looking forwards to sharing it with you,... We have thousands of veterans returning this year alone so there is much work to be done.
